Experience Range:
3 – 8 Years of experience in pharmaceutical packaging development, engineering, or operations, including knowledge of regulatory and export requirements.
Salary Range (INR):
₹6 – ₹12 Lakhs per annum (depending on experience, company size, and product range)
Educational Qualification:
Mandatory: B.Pharm / B.Tech / B.Sc – Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
Preferred: PG Diploma or Certification in Packaging Technology (e.g., IIP – Indian Institute of Packaging)
Role Overview:
The Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing, validating, and optimizing packaging solutions for pharmaceutical products, ensuring product integrity, regulatory compliance, cost-effectiveness, and supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials and specifications for pharmaceutical products (oral solids, injectables, etc.)
Collaborate with R&D, quality, production, and SCM for packaging design and trials
Ensure packaging compliance with USFDA, EU-GMP, MHRA, and WHO standards
Conduct line trials, compatibility testing, and validation of packaging material
Optimize packaging for logistics – cost, durability, cold chain compatibility
Ensure stability studies, label content compliance, and serialization readiness
Work with vendors to develop innovative and sustainable packaging solutions
Maintain BOMs, artworks, packaging SOPs, and change controls in ERP systems
Address packaging deviations, complaints, and implement CAPA
Support audits and regulatory filings with technical documentation
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical packaging materials (blisters, bottles, vials, cartons, foils)
Familiarity with cGMP, GDP, serialization, tamper-evidence, and labelling norms
Exposure to packaging lines, automation, and packaging machine operations
Understanding of cold chain packaging and temperature-sensitive logistics
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/MM), AutoCAD, and label/packaging design tools
Effective communication and cross-functional coordination skills
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on quality, efficiency, and compliance
